During the last legislative session, county Farm Bureaus and members across the state helped:

• Stop a bill that would have raised the statewide mill levy by more than 18 mills. More than 60 County Farm Bureaus submitted written testimony opposing the bill, along with more than 200 members who directly contacted their legislators.
• Ensure the Kansas business climate remains inviting for current producers and provides new opportunities within agriculture. A bill passed that updated Kansas law to include science-based requirements for dry-litter management in poultry growing systems. Another bill allowed for research of industrial hemp in Kansas.
• Fight for access to a strong and reliable broadband connection. This remains imperative to ensure our members can continue to grow, raise and add value to our state's food, fuel and fiber production. A bill passed established a task force that will identify opportunities and funding to expand broadband infrastructure. KFB was also successful in initiating a challenge to the way the FCC maps broadband coverage – an effort that will hopefully result in better cell coverage no matter where you are in Kansas.
